Posted in Andorra Ski Information by Brett on 19th August 2019

Andorra is a tiny country located in the heart of the Pyrenees mountain range.  It’s high altitude ski resorts offer ideal snow conditions which make for a lengthy ski season.  Like any ski destination, Andorra has plenty of resorts some more suited to families while others are more lively and better suited to those who like plenty of nightlife and après ski fun.  With this in mind here is a short guide to the resorts you will find in Andorra.

Pas de la Casa

Pas de la Casa set in the Grandvalira ski area near the border with France has a wide variety of slopes for skiers and snowboarders of various levels.  It is the liveliest ski resort in Andorra, however, which appeals to teenagers and young adults who like to party and shop in the resort’s popular shopping centre.  Despite its reputation as a resort for party animals there is a quieter side to Pas called Grau Roig which is more exclusive and has a luxury hotel and spa that is ideal for families.

Pal-Arinsal

Pal-Arinsal lies on the western side of Andorra in a region known as the Vallnord ski area. The resort has excellent facilities including high speed ski lifts and gondolas that ensure you get the most out of your day’s skiing without having to hang around too much.  A further attraction of this resort is being able to ski in and ski out direct to your hotel without having to take the lift.

The Arinsal side is great if you’re a beginner or intermediate skiers and snowboarders with plenty of green and blue runs as well as 16 red runs and four black runs for those who want to stretch themselves.  The resort offers lively nightlife for those who enjoy their après ski.

Pal is the quieter half of the resort and is a favourite destination for families with lots of activities including sledging and cross-country skiing to enjoy.

Vallnord Arcalis

If you are looking for a good family ski resort in Andorra with lots of scenery and things to do for the kids, then Vallnord Arcalis is the ideal destination.  The resort is famous for its picturesque mountain valleys and it also has the longest beginners run of all the ski resorts in Andorra.  While it is an excellent choice for families and beginners there is plenty to challenge more advanced skiers with some of the best off-piste skiing in the country. Snow is also good quality due to its orientation.

Soldeu and El Tarter

Soldeu and El Tarter is another excellent high altitude ski resort for families and beginners.  For the more discerning traveler, there is some excellent high end accommodation set in a resort that offers a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere.  The resort also has an excellent snow record and plenty of ski areas for beginners to practice which makes it perfect if you are just starting out learning to ski.  If you want a ski destination to rival some of the more expensive European destinations for its accommodation without the high costs attached, this resort is the place to go.
